The club’s long overdue AGM will take place at 8:25 on Thursday 9 June at the Farirburn Memorial Hall, Marybank. Because of COVID this is our first AGM since 2019 and as well as being the delayed AGM for the 2020/21 and 21/22 seasons it will also act as the AGM for 22/23, which would normally be held this September.
As we are still very much a club in recovery following our emergence from COVID stasis, it’s really important that as many people as possible attend. Engagement from our fencing community is going to play a big part of the club’s revitalisation. So all fencers, parents and other interested parties are strongly encouraged to come along. The timing has been chosen to try to include those finishing the juniors session and those turning up for the seniors.
As part of the AGM we will be looking to elect a new committee for the year ahead. The committee executive consists of three elected roles:
- Chair (currently David Ferguson)
- Secretary (vacant)
- Treasurer (currently Carol Hallame)
If you would like to nominate anyone for any of these positions or to volunteer yourself, please let us know in the next week. There will also be other opportunities to assist by becoming non-executive committee members for anyone who is interested. Likewise please let us know if there is any business you would like raised at the AGM.
the AGM will also be an opportunity to discuss the future of the club and where we go from here.
To raise business, stand for a role or nominate others you must be a member of the club. Membership is free this year and you can apply here. If you are unsure about your membership status, please speak to Carol or myself before the meeting. Membership is open to fencers, parents and other friends of the club.
This will be my last AGM as chair. After 25 years of involvement with the club – the last 9 of them as chair – I’m going to be moving on in the next few months, so time for some new blood to take the club forward.
We hope to see as many people there as can make it.
David Ferguson
Chair
