Well, when we suspended training over a year ago, we certainly didn’t expect it to last this long! The committee met over Zoom last week so we have a few updates for you.
Firstly, we want to say a huge thank you to Cindy Poole Reeves who has stepped down from the role of club secretary after several years of hard work. Cindy will be much missed by the club and we wish her well.
We also said thank you and farewell (for now at least) to Tom Hoffmann, our coach and longtime club stalwart, as his job has taken him away from the area. All the best Tom, don’t be a stranger!
In terms of the rest of the committee, as we were unable to hold an AGM last year, we’ve opted to retain the other members as an interim committee until such time as we can (hopefully) hold an AGM sometime after the summer.
We are aware that a lot of folk want to know when we will be restarting, and that’s something we also discussed. Obviously a lot depends on changes to government policy and the availability of venues, but we are hopeful that we will be able to return to fencing as soon as possible after the summer break, moving in to session 2021/22. Keep an eye on this page and our social media feeds for more details as we have them. In the meantime we are delighted that Gregor is going to be able to make us of the plastic kit to do some come and try sessions in partnership with Highlife Highland over the summer.
